New Life Quarterly

When: Sat., Dec. 9, 7 p.m. 2017

After being continually blown away by local yet disparate talent, the folks at Wolfman Books decided there ought to be a magazine showcasing Bay Area artists and writers — one that would help attract recognition from outside the region but also foster collaboration within. The result is New Life Quarterly, a large-format, full-color magazine featuring fiction, poetry, artist portfolios, and conversations. All of the editors and 16 contributors are based in the East Bay, including Avery Trufelman, Leila Weefur, Jordan Karnes, Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo, and Lindsey Boldt. Others are former East Bay residents or live elsewhere in California. For the first issue, award-winning novelist Rachel Khong (Goodbye, Vitamin) curated the unconventional book review section, and all of her selections will be available at E.M. Wolfman — in addition to copies of New Life Quarterly, of course. The launch party on Saturday night will feature special discounts on individual issues and subscriptions as well as drinks, snacks, and music.
