Caltrans says it will not have to close the Bay Bridge again to install a better fix for a section of the span that collapsed on motorists earlier this fall, the Chron and the CoCo Times report. Instead, Caltrans plans to close three lanes of the upper deck at night over a three-week period, beginning Friday — weather permitting. Agency officials say the new repair should last until the new eastern span of the bridge is completed in 2013.
