National Public Gardens Day

When: Fri., May 11, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. 2012

Friday, May 11, is National Public Gardens Day, dedicated to celebrating, well, public gardens, and their role in environmental stewardship and education. Where better to spend it than UC Berkeley's own Botanical Garden, which boasts some 13,000 plant varieties over 84 gorgeous acres overlooking the city? Garden staff will host various special tours and activities throughout the day; Better Homes and Gardens magazine will offer subscribers free passes to any two gardens, including Berkeley's; and, as of press time, the weather projection for Friday was 76 and sunny -- just sayin'. All day; free for members, UC Berkeley staff, students, and faculty, and pass-holders; $2-$10 otherwise.
