Nas and Ms. Lauryn Hill

When: Mon., Nov. 19, 8 p.m. 2012

Widely lauded as one of the greatest emcees of hip-hop, Nas is a consummate storyteller who has influenced a new generation of rappers during his two-decade-long career. His acclaimed Life Is Good, released in July, is one of many lavish, evocative, stunningly produced, and lyrically tight albums he's put out since his 1994 classic Illmatic. Like most of the best rappers, Nas is a poet, social theorist, photographer, and high priest. It's safe to say that his show with rapper-chanteuse goddess Lauryn Hill (formerly of The Fugees) -- another member of hip-hop royalty -- will be golden enough to gild the stage they walk on. They perform with JheneAiko at The Fox Theater (1807 Telegraph Ave., Oakland) on Monday, Nov. 19. 8 p.m., $49.50-$79.50.
