New York-based pianist and composer Miki Yamanaka leads this workshop covering approaches to comping, interacting and connecting with fellow musicians, techniques for expanding your jazz vocabulary through the study of transcriptions, and more. Comping concepts are drawn from the work of jazz masters Horace Silver, Wynton Kelly, McCoy Tyner and others. Workshop is open to all musicians, from pianists interested in learning more about the art of comping, to horn players interested in developing the ability to interact with the rhythm section, to all musicians interested in developing the ability to feel more connected with other players on the bandstand.
