Mr. Kind

When: Thu., Nov. 1, 9 p.m. 2012

It's unclear whether the members of Oakland indie rockers Mr. Kind are old enough to have been aware of Wilco'sYankee Hotel Foxtrot when it came out in 2002, but they know the album now -- so well, in fact, that they're performing it in its entirety. Mr. Kind's upbeat, alt-country sound, as heard on its debut EP OK, owes a lot to Wilco, whose fourth album contains some of its best pop songs, including "War on War" and "Jesus, Etc." Guests contributing to Mr. Kind's performance at Bottom of the Hill (1233 17th St., San Francisco) on Thursday, Nov. 1, will include past and present members of likeminded indie-pop bands: Berkeley's Bird By Bird, Alameda's Finish Ticket, and the now-defunct Please Do Not Fight. Opening the show with his first performance as his R&B persona Marqiss will be classical guitarist Taylor Brown, followed by folk trio River Shiver, which will release its debut EP the same day. 9 p.m., $10.
