When: Nov. 8-10, 8 p.m. and Sun., Nov. 11, 2 p.m. 2007
Alameda community theater Altarena Playhouse has been around since 1938, and its latest offering dates from around the same time: Paul Osborn's gentle 1939 comedy Morning's at Seven, a Broadway revival of which belatedly won a Tony Award for the playwright in 1980. Frequent Altarena actress Sue Trigg directs the ode to simple small-town folk, in which a son bringing his fiancée home to meet the parents raises a ruckus among the Midwestern families of the four elderly Gibbs sisters. Morning's at Seven runs through Nov. 11 at Altarena Playhouse. Altarena.org or 510-523-1553.
