When: Fri., Aug. 25, 8-9:30 p.m.
The Morchestra is a 17-piece big band based in Berkeley and led by Tony Corman. The players are all Bay Area jazz stalwarts, and the repertoire encompasses jazz classics, the Great American Songbook, Tony's atmospheric originals, and a hefty serving of Brazilian music. This concert focuses entirely on Brazilian music and features vocalist Masha Campagne. We'll be debuting a number of new arrangements written by Tony for Masha, including some classic bossas and sambas, a bit of Djavan funk, some Toninho Horta, and gems from this rich genre.
