The jazzy, silky-smooth, neo-soul sounds of Moonchild’s 2014 sophomore album, Please Rewind, earned them the respect of soul/jazz greats Stevie Wonder, Robert Glasper, and Jill Scott, as well as hip-hop producer 9th Wonder, who sampled the group’s easy-going Fender Rhodes sound. The Los Angeles group embraced it and got a re-release of Please Rewind and followed it up with last year’s Voyager. It’s a slightly funkier album, but dreamy ballad “The Cure” has become the group’s most popular song. It makes time feel like it’s in slow motion, as if the sun is setting and you have nowhere you need to be for the rest of the night.
