As The Social Network introduces a generation to the idea that global corporations arenÕt about making ÒfriendsÓ, musician M.I.A. crashes around the country selling a similarly stylish type of consciousness expansion. The UK-born daughter of a Sri Lankan political activist Mathangi Arulpragasam was radicalized by her fatherÕs fight for an independent Tamil Eelam. She went on to unite her conflicted worldview with an equally revolutionary ear and eyeñsynthesizing global electro, hip hop, and punk in hit releases Arular (2004) and Kala (2007). Third album MAYA, released over the summer, shows that M.I.A. is still one of the best performers in the game. With production from the likes of Blaqstaar, Rusko and Sleigh Bells, she remains as cacophonously divisive as she is singularly brilliant. With opener Rye Rye. Tuesday, October 12. 8 p.m. $35.
