Matt Cronk Benefit

When: Sat., May 3, 5 p.m. 2008

There's nothing like a (usually uninsured) musician getting sick or hurt to bring bands together. Matt Cronk, guitarist of LA noisemakers Qui, suffered a series of strokes due to cardiomyopathy and was hospitalized in January, causing the band to cancel its tour supporting Love's Miracle, released last year on Ipecac. Cronk is now recovering, but has a stack of medical bills to contend with. Following a benefit in Silverlake, a slew of top-notch local bands will play an early benefit show on Saturday, May 3 at the Vert Ramp Warehouse (1278 Underwood Ave., San Francisco), including Oakland metal band Saviours, SF psych-rockers Wooden Shjips, experimental rock outfit Triclops!, Grayceon, Hank IV, and Boy Found Floating. 5 p.m., $10 sliding-scale donation.
