.Mark DeSaulnier Wants Your Big Ideas

Apparently, East Bay state Assemblyman Mark DeSaulnier is having a hard time figuring out what to do in Sacramento. So he’s asking you, the voters, in a new project he’s calling the “There Oughta Be a Law” contest. District residents can e-mail his staff ideas for new legislation, and the good assemblyman will take a look and see what he can do. The blogger Halfway to Concord, who first noticed De Saulnier’s announcement, gripes, “There should be a law that lets voters publicly paddle lawmakers who propose stupid legislation that oversteps the authority of the state?” Hey, why stop at stupid legislation? We say: One law, ten stripes in the public square.
