Maria Muldaur & Her Red Hot Bluesiana Band

When: Wed., Feb. 24, 8:30 p.m. 2010

Maria Muldaur kicks off the Sweet & Low Down Wednesdays series at Ashkenaz (1317 San Pablo Ave., Berkeley) with her Red Hot Bluesiana Band. Muldaur has been a jug band queen and a pop diva, but in recent years she's been delving into the deep roots of New Orleans, performing the R&B, blues, and early jazz tunes associated with the CrescentCity. The group's ever-shifting lineup always includes the best roots music players available to showcase Muldaur's consistently impressive vocal presence. The dance floor will be open for this gig, so come boogie down to some of the greasiest grooves you'll finds this side of the bayous. On Wednesday, Feb. 24.8:30 pm., $15, $18. Ashkenaz.com
