Singer, pianist, and songwriter Marcia Ball is an all-around entertainer equally adept at delivering a wry, double entendre or a heartfelt ballad of lost love and desolation. Her fusion of East Texas blues, Louisiana swamp rock, earthy R&B, and New Orleans swagger and strut has made her one of the most unique female vocalists in or out of the blues field. She's also an amazing musician and a versatile pianist with chops to spare. Ball's touring bands, usually composed of Austin heavies, are capable of laying down a propulsive groove to support her impressive vocals and red-hot piano playing. At Yoshi's (1330 Fillmore, San Francisco) on Tuesday, April 19. 8 p.m., $20. Yoshis.com/SanFrancisco.
