Laura Dekker was born on a boat in New Zealand, raised in Holland to be self-reliant and adventurous, and at age sixteen became the youngest person to sail around the world solo. This immensely entertaining documentary, shot on board the forty-foot, two-masted ketch Guppy by Dekker and in port by director Jillian Schlesinger and crew, follows Laura’s record-setting voyage and listens to her bright, optimistic chirpings as she visits the Galapagos, French Polynesia, Australia, South Africa, and St. Maarten, relishing every challenge. The graphic on-screen charting of her route is a show in itself. Written by Dekker, Schlesinger, and film editor Penelope Falk (82 min.).
