Rated R 95 minutes 2009

You’ve probably been waiting years for a coming-of-age movie built around Lyme’s disease. Here it is at last, starring Rory Culkin as Scott, a suburban Long Island teenager whose overbearing father (Alec Baldwin) is too busy building housing developments and cheating on his wife (Jill Hennessy) to offer the kid advice on how to deal with Adrianna, the girl he loves (Emma Roberts). The Lyme connection comes from Adrianna’s father (Timothy Hutton), a loser whose suffering convinces us that the deer displaced by the new developments are getting their revenge by spreading ticks. The derivative but well acted screenplay is by director Martini and his brother Steve, who also pitched in on the music, editing, and producing chores (alongside Martin Scorsese and Barbara De Fina). Scott’s brother is portrayed by Culkin’s real-life bro, Kieran Culkin (95 min.).
