Los Campesinos

When: Fri., May 7, 9 p.m. 2010

Despite the Latino-sounding name, Los Campesinos!actually emerged from the same music collective that brought us Broken Social Scene, Feist, and Stars. Known for inherent creative ADD that's marked by a glorious avalanche of garage-rock aggression and avant-pop swagger, the Welsh septet continues with this M.O. on its third full-length, Romance is Boring. No surprise here that heartbreak and wrecked relationships continue to be a major source of inspiration, particularly via the chiming desperation that comes ringing forth on the delectable pop-punk of "There Are Listed Buildings" or the confessional alley-cattingfrontman Gareth Campesinos! cops to on the equally engrossing "Straight In at 101." And despite being temporarily waylaid by Icelandic volcano ash, Los Campesinos! will bring its wonderful and over-caffeinated musical attack to Regency Ballroom (1290 Sutter St., San Francisco) on Friday, May 7. 9 p.m., $20-$22.
