Feel-good political romantic comedy stars Charlize Theron as the ambitious, buttoned-down U.S. Secretary of State, who inexplicably loses her head while running for president by falling in love with her speechwriter — played by Seth Rogen as a bearded, shambling man-child whose main connection to the Theron character is that she used to be his babysitter. Only in the movies. But despite the wacked-out Frank-Capra-ness of the situation, Theron and Rogen are completely convincing, their screwball antics ably mapped out by writers Dan Sterling and Liz Hannah, under the direction of the comedy-centric Jonathan Levine (Snatched). Nice character support by June Diane Raphael, Ravi Patel, Andy Serkis (as an obnoxious media baron), and Bob Odenkirk, as the goofball POTUS.
