He’s Chinese American, raised in Palo Alto. Fervent Christian. Went to Harvard. He knocked around the fringes of the NBA before exploding into pro basketball stardom in 2012 with the New York Knicks. Now Jeremy Lin is a top-scoring hoops phenomenon, and this amiable, informative documentary profile by filmmaker Evan Jackson Leong lays out the official story of Lin and his “unlikely” prowess – “Didn’t fit the mold,” racist stereotyping, etc. Even casual basketball fans will welcome the upbeat against-all-odds scenario.
