Lincoln Cushing: "All of Us or None: Social Justice Posters of the Bay Area"

When: Thu., July 26, 7:30 p.m. 2012

Works of art unto themselves, social justice posters are immediately recognizable for their flair and pictorial commentary on civil rights, women's lib, war, gentrification, and the people that embodied these issues. Lincoln Cushing, former librarian and current archivist, chose from among 24,000 such art works in compiling his book All of Us or None: Social Justice Posters of the Bay Area, 68 of which are also in installation at the Oakland Museum of California. Cushing discusses both projects at Pegasus Books Downtown (2349 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley) on Thursday, July 26; see the posters, read the book, and find out why the Bay Area is such a hotspot for this particular art. 7:30 p.m., free. 510-649-1320 or PegasusBookstore.com
