Things have gotten pretty heated both politically and, well, environmentally. It might seem impossible to not be in a rage (and/or panic) about everything happening in the world. You should be mad, but don’t forget to take a breath every now and again. Bay Area comedian Brian Copeland is hoping you take at least one night this summer to chill out and laugh. The San Leandro native has thrown together an all-star Bay Area comedy veteran lineup for Lighten Up for Summer, intended for the good folks in and near his hometown. (The area isn’t exactly known as a comedy hub, but set that aside for a moment.) The lineup includes KGO radio host Chip Franklin, Tonight Show veteran Mark Pitta, Grammy-nominated Bruce Baum, and many others. Of course, Copeland himself will be on the bill, too. His long-running one-man show Not a Genuine Black Man explores his childhood growing up in a city with few other Black residents.
