Legendary Hieroglyphics

When: Sat., April 12, 9 p.m. 2008

When he emerged a little more than a decade ago, Eligh was one of those underground rappers you would only hear on mixtapes or the KALX Sunday Morning Show, wedged between francophone MC Solaar and some obscure track made of loops sampled from Popeye. But even before his name gained currency in the hip-hop world, Eligh was taking his music in funky directions, using futuristic beats, stream-of-conscious lyrics, and wild-style graffiti on his album covers. Now a well-established figurehead, Eligh will grace the Elbo Room (647 Valencia St., San Francisco) on Saturday, April 12, alongside Casual of Hieroglyphics, Urban High Society, the Bayliens, Flavethrowers, and Vince Price. Hosted by Floss-a-Fee and T.D. Camp. 9 p.m., $10.
