Even though It's Christmas was Ledisi's most recent release, don't expect any Yuletide fare when she returns to play in her Bay Area backyard for the second time in the last three months. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, expect heavy doses of lyrical love off Lost & Found, her Grammy-nominated major label debut. Packing a Chaka Khan-ish vocal punch with a hint of Anita Baker-like élan, Ledisi mixes jazz phrasing with a slight hip-hop sensibility as she sings of desires both physical ("You & Me") and spiritual ("Think of You"). With chops honed studying at UC Berkeley's Young Musicians Program, Ledisi will undoubtedly trot out a rich fusion of R&B, jazz, and funk when she performs at Yoshi's (510 Embarcadero West, Oakland) Thursday, Feb. 5 through Sunday, Feb. 8. $18-$26.
