Samuel Maoz’s tense Israeli war drama could function quite well as a stage play. Most of the action takes place in the claustrophobic confines of a tank rumbling through Lebanon in the opening days of the 1982 Israeli-Lebanese conflict, as the members of a tank crew sort out their violent anxieties. Writer-director Maoz, who served as a soldier in Lebanon himself, is occasionally guilty of metaphor overload, but his anti-war message comes across loud and clear. Starring Yoav Donat, Itay Tiran, and Oshri Cohen (93 min.).
