Anna, a skittish Boston career girl (Amy Adams), is having no luck getting her pasty-faced boyfriend to propose to her, so she sneaks off to Ireland to surprise him on Leap Day, February 29, the Irish version of Sadie Hawkins Day. But accident-prone Anna suffers more travel mishaps than John Candy and Steve Martin in Planes, Trains & Automobiles – good thing she hooks up with a friendly Hibernian he-man (Matthew Goode) on the road. Guess what happens next. Despite everything, Adams and her red-haired, innocent, peaches-and-cream charm make us swallow our disbelief once again. But this is the last time. I swear it. Directed by Anand Tucker (And When Did You Last See Your Father?) from a screenplay by Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont (95 min.).
