Bay Area musicians are seriously stepping up for victims of the earthquake in Haiti. In addition to the three concerts we already blogged about, we just got word of one more — this one to benefit Sionfonds for Haiti and Foyer De Sion Orphanage in Haiti. The concert will be held February 28, 3 to 8 p.m., at San Francisco’s Pier 23 Café, and will feature performances by Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco, Sandy Cressman & Sombra y Luz, Ray Obiedo and Mambo Caribe, The Bay Area Latin Jazz All-Stars, Anthony Blea, Ray Obiedo, Jesus Diaz, John Santos, Wayne Wallace, Bill Ortiz, Jeff Cressman, David Belove, Murray Low and David Flores, Melecio Magdaluyo, Paul van Wageningen, Marc van Wageningen, Dan Foltz, Larry de la Cruz, Sandy Cressman, Paul Mousavi, David Matthews, and Jeff Narell. According to the press release, the office of Sionfonds for Haiti and one of its orphanages in Port-au-Prince were completely destroyed in the earthquake. Sionfonds for Haiti, says its web site, provides “educational sponsorships and community projects” and helps “rural Haitians to help themselves, through, education, health care, job training and community improvements.” Tickets cost $25 and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Sionfonds.
