Sports & Outdoors-Participatory,

Labor Day Decide-and-Ride

When: Mon., Sept. 5, 9 a.m. 2011

The Oakland Yellowjackets Bicycle Club is not your typical spandex-clad crew. Established in 1986, the multicultural bicycling group is open to men and women of all ages and skill levels, and its forgiving "no drop" policy means no cyclist will ever be left behind. Rides throughout the Bay Area and beyond are social events and not races, with safety and camaraderie coming first. And the Yellowjackets' colorful uniforms, imbued with a hint of tie-dye, effect just the right air. Meet the club at the Children's Fairyland parking lot (699 Bellevue Ave., Oakland) on Monday, Sept. 5, for a Labor Day Decide-and-Ride, where attendees will pick a route on the spot and depart at 9 a.m. Free.
