LA Sad Girl

When: Sat., May 23, 8 p.m. 2009

Comedian and monologist Adelina Anthony is known for a rather seditious brand of political humor. A self-identified queer Xicana-Indígena, she skewers everything from mainstream Hollywood to The L Word, bemoans her "dyke drama" and talks candidly about BDSM. On Saturday, May 23, at Berkeley's La Peña Cultural Center (3105 Shattuck Ave.),she'll unveil LA Sad Girl, her newest compendium of stand-up. Whereas last year's La Angry Xicana?! did a hatchet job on all things right-wing and conservative, LA Sad Girl promises a more tightly focused look at sex and relationships from a lesbian perspective. She'll incorporate everything from break-up blues to the evils of social networking sites. . 8 p.m., $14-$16.
