Kitchen Story is the 10th restaurant from Bay Area restaurateur Hoyul Steven Choi. For brunch, Choi offers highly Instagrammable dishes like mascarpone-stuffed deep-fried French toast. But many of his dishes also offer a Korean twist on familiar dishes. The Country Benedict features Korean fried chicken thighs with a gochujang-tinged Hollandaise sauce. The tornado galbi omurice, meanwhile, offers a Don’t miss the jjapaguri, an instant noodle dish inspired by the film Parasite. The combination of two brands of instant noodles, Jjapaghetti and Neoguri, is a popular dish in Korea. Choi amps his up with Millionaire’s Bacon — essentially candied, slow-cooked pork belly — plus a fried egg, ground pork, mushrooms, cucumbers, and pickled veggies. It’ll have you rethinking and appreciating the possibilities of instant noodles: simple, but with room for creativity, much like Kitchen Story itself.
