From reviews good and bad to nearly every adjective in the book used to describe it, Kingdom’s latest release, Tears In The Club, certainly has people talking. L.A.-based producer and deejay Ezra Rubin dropped his debut LP late last month, after years of successful collaborative releases from his Fade To Mind platform (most notably R&B singer Kelela’s breakthrough 2013 mixtape, Cut 4 Me). Keeping with his tradition of mixing melodic voices and synthetic, club-influenced production, Tears In the Club features songs with vocals from Syd (of The Internet), SZA, and Shacar. Other tracks skew instrumental, and experimental, as the album intentionally crosses lines, and blurs genres and moods. Oakland dance party duo Foozool and 8ulentina will join Kingdom this Friday night for an exclusive evening of inclusive sounds.
