At the Castro Valley Library (3600 Norbridge Ave., Castro Valley) on Tuesday, Dec. 14, Burrell discusses how both sweet and savory dishes can be perked up with not just wine but also brandy, kirsch, rum, ale, cognac, and more. 6:30 p.m., free.
