Dance-Performance, Kids

Kaleidoscope

When: May 18-20, 7 p.m., Sat., May 19, 2 & 7 p.m. and Sun., May 20, 2 p.m. 2012

Celebrating its thirtieth anniversary this year, Berkeley Ballet Theater is as much a community center as a dance school. Locals who took childhood ballet classes there in the Eighties now carpool their own kids to Sally Streets' beloved school, whose alumni have gone on to Juilliard, Broadway, and New York City Ballet. Bring the whole family to see the latest generation of dancers in the school's annual spring performance, taking place Friday through Sunday, May 18-20, at the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts (2640 College Ave., Berkeley). Older students will perform work by noted Bay Area choreographers Michael Lowe, Sonya Delwaide, and Julia Adam, as well as a new piece by Streets, and heart-melting younger dancers will appear as princesses and peasants from the great ballets. Fri. 7 p.m., Sat. 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Sun. 2 p.m.; $18-$24. 510-830-9524 or BerkeleyBallet.org
