Justin Townes Earle

When: Sat., Feb. 13, 9 p.m. 2010

As the son of a well-respected and highly outspoken renaissance man who also happens to be a cornerstone of Americana music, it would be easy for Justin Townes Earle to reject winning the gene-pool lottery. But much to the credit of Steve's son, the younger Earle has not only embraced his legacy, but dealt with his own substance-abuse problems and is already a few years into carving out a neat musical niche of his own. Still riding the accolades that greeted last year's sophomore outing, Midnight at the Movies, Earle has been having fun on the road, sharing his fusion of old-time mountain music and indie rock that's manifested itself in endearing covers of the Replacements' "Can't Hardly Wait." The recently engaged noted clotheshorse along with up-and-comer Joe Pug will be bringing the twang to the GreatAmericanMusic Hall (859 O'Farrell St., San Francisco), on Saturday, Feb. 13. 9 p.m., $14-$16.
