Just One of Four Teens Charged in Gang Rape Attended Richmond High

Only one the four teens who have been officially charged in connection with the Richmond High gang rape actually attended the school, according to the Chron. Cody Ray Smith, 15, of San Pablo, is the only Richmond High student charged so far. He is believed to have enticed the 15-year-old victim to a secluded spot on the campus, where she was viciously raped by numerous male teens.

Two other teens who have been charged in the case - Ari Abdallah Morales, 16, of San Pablo and Marcelles James Peter, 17, of Pinole - were transferred out of Richmond High to continuation high schools, sources told the Chron. And the fourth teen charged in the case - 19-year-old Manuel Ortega - was a disruptive student "who once threw a flaming ball of paper at a teacher," before running away from home and dropping out of school after his junior year, according to the Chron.

If you haven't read yesterday's Chron piece on the gang rape, and the backstory of how it happened, it's worth checking out.
