Juneteenth Ritual of Remembrance

When: Sat., June 10, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. 2017

This Juneteenth Ritual of Remembrance is in honor of the enslaved people in the United States who didn't live to see freedom come when the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by Pres. Abraham Lincoln in 1863. The observation includes ancestor chant and drumming, freedom songs in the Ring-Shout tradition and a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation.
