Convicted of a murder he committed at age nineteen, award-winning poet Spoon Jackson has been serving a life sentence without possibility of parole since 1977. Through a prison-writing program, he met teacher and fellow poet Judith Tannenbaum. At Diesel (5433 College Ave., Oakland) on Thursday, Apr. 8, Tannenbaum discusses their coauthored memoir, By Heart: Poetry, Prison, and Two Lives. 7 p.m., free.
