Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Rated PG 81 minutes 2013

Float off to oceanic gastro-neverland with Jiro Ono, superstar sushi chef, whose ten-seat restaurant in a Tokyo subway station is a world-renowned destination for customers seeking the elusive “perfect piece of sushi.” According to documentary-maker David Gelb’s worshipful profile of the 85-year-old master, Jiro-san is a quiet perfectionist who’s never quite satisfied with his craft. And as we watch him presenting his daily menu to the lucky few and sending his disciples to the famous Tsukiji fish market to buy the choicest cuts, we’re ready to believe he’s the last of a dying breed of purists. Foodies will devour this. (81 min.)
