Jim Morrison Look-Alike Contest

When: Sat., July 31, 12-2 p.m. 2010

The city of Alameda is well-known for its cute Victorians, small-town feel, and general wholesomeness, but it was also the (brief) home of one of rock musicÕs most raucous personalities, Doors frontman Jim Morrison, who lived on the island for three years while his father was stationed at the Navy base. On Saturday, July 31, fans are invited to honor him by pulling out their leather pants and best brooding-artist expressions for the Alameda FarmersÕ MarketÕs (Haight Ave. at Webster St., Alameda) Jim MorrisonLook-Alike Contest. The event ñ which will also include a reading of poetry by and about Morrison ñ is part of the islandÕs ongoing Summer Site Write poetry celebration. Noon-2 p.m., free. 510-523-5980 or
