The EastBay gets routinely shafted on breaking acts who can draw bigger crowds in San Francisco, but not this Thursday. Blogworthy Brooklyn act Javelin plays the Uptown (1928 Telegraph Ave., Oakland), and this party will sell out. Tom Van Buskirk and his cousin George Langford formed Javelin in 2005, and after self-releasing a collection of demos (Jamz n Jemz) and a pair of limited Thrill Jockey twelve-inches (Javelin, Number Two), released their debut party album, No Más, this spring. Samplers, strings, drum machines, drum sets, and a vast array of guitars, horns, and homemade thumb pianos hog the stage, along with a bunch of working boomboxes. The madness resembles a Jamaican sound system more than an indie band. Javelin plays with San Francisco weirdo electronic act MausHaus, plus special guests, on Thursday, Apr. 29. 9 p.m., $8.
