Japanese Food, Entertainment, and Moon Viewing

Dating back to Japan's Heian period, Tsukimi is a fall festival whose participants honor the harvest moon by savoring its visage (especially as reflected on water) and placing food and flowers on altars. At the LakesideParkGardenCenter(666 Bellevue Ave., Oakland) on Sunday, Oct. 4, the Oakland Fukuoka Sister City Association hosts a Tsukimi evening featuring martial arts and dance performances. 6:30 p.m.,free.
