Jackie Brown

When: Tue., Dec. 29, 7:30 p.m. 2009

924 Gilman Street will keep its doors open during the dog days of December, while the rest of the world languishes. Following a weekend of benefit shows with various punk bands (Public Suicide, Decent Criminal, Overdrive A.D., Emily's Army, Grimmer, and Nihilist Cunt, among others) the club will screen its usual free movie on Tuesday night. The selections tend to be pretty hip, ranging from early Winona Ryder vehicles to John Waters flicks to others from beloved French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet. This Tuesday, Dec. 29, come watch Quentin Tarantino's neo-blaxploitation film Jackie Brown, which features an older Pam Grier doing the dirty work for an arms smuggler played by Samuel L. Jackson. 7:30 p.m., free.
