.Is the East Bay Heading for a Drought?

The Chron‘s Meredith May reports that the East Bay’s water utility is seriously considering rationing water if the rain gods don’t bless us soon. Although January and February were nice and moist, March and April have been bone-dry, leaving the Sierra snowpack at alarmingly low levels. Unless the precipitation doesn’t percolate promptly, the East Bay Municipal Utility District might ban the washing of cars and the running of water fountains, raise the rates, and even set a cap on how much water allotted each household. If your greywater systems aren’t in place by now, you might want to consider rain dances around the totem pole.
