Irvine Welsh

When: Sun., Sept. 21, 3 p.m. 2008

Most famous for his gross-out heroin-addiction novel, Trainspotting, potty-penned Scots author Irvine Welsh visits the States in his latest book, which he will discuss at Diesel (5433 College Ave., Oakland) on Sept. 21. Crime features an Edinburgh detective recovering from a nervous breakdown in Miami, where local oddballs and a vulnerable little girl and illegal drugs rear their eternally tempting heads. 3 p.m.
