Iron Man seems as odd a character to adapt from comic books to the big screen as Swamp Thing and Elektra, but director Jon Favreau has taken Marvel's lame Tin Man and turned him into a superhero every bit as cool as Spider-Man. Iron Man is the story of a billionaire war profiteer, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), who realizes his avarice has made him one of the bad guys. Consequently, he designs a robotic exoskeleton to take on the world's injustices and look like a total bad-ass in the process. Diehard fans will salivate, while newbies will find themselves drawn in by Downey's beguiling cool, his character's unexpected pathos, and a suit of armor we'll all want for Christmas.
