Youth homelessness is a serious problem in the Bay Area. Non-profit organization Larkin Street Youth Services has been helping young people in this area escape the cycle of homelessness since 1984. In order to do their good work, they need funding. The In The Skin Fest at 924 Gilman is raising funds for the Larkin Street Youth Services by bringing together some of the best punk bands in the area, to rattle the Gilman walls with incredibly powerful tunes for a good cause. Local queer power pop group Crush Material headlines the event. It plays upbeat bittersweet tunes that find the mid-point between pop-punk and ’90s alt-rock. Other bands on the bill include Angelboy + the halos (indie rock trio based out of Suisun City), Squirt (San Francisco based queer-punk), Kill Your Ego (San Pedro based ska-punk trio), Culture Tourist (Chico based emo-punkers), as well as Last Kid Alive, Ida Fox and Altar Boy.
