Imperial Teen

When: Thu., Dec. 13, 8 p.m. 2007

After a brief hiatus, Imperial Teen has returned with The Hair the TV the Baby & the Band. While this wordy title serves to explain how the quartet's time away was spent on other musical projects, having a kid, writing for music for television shows, or pursuing a career in cosmetology, the return of these Bay Area indie-pop savants shows they've still got a way around a hook. Along with the frug-friendly "Sweet Potato" and girl-group-inspired "Everything," Imperial Teen brings enough harmonies and clear-sounding riffs to the party to conjure up images of the Velvet Underground and Yo La Tengo. Electro dance-punk trio Von Iva and indie rockers The Hundred Days open the show. Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Independent. 8 p.m., $15.
