An innocuous, pedestrian comedy starring Adam Sandler and Kevin James as two heterosexual New York firefighters who, thanks to a flaw in the benefits system, must become civil partners and convince friends and a city inspector that they are, in fact, gay. The jokes are pretty lame, but the social message is surprisingly tight despite an absurd ending that requires Dan Aykroyd to pontificate. The real joy is watching Ving Rhames perform "I'm Every Woman" in the men's shower, naked, while Sandler and James, also naked, back him up. The fact that there's dropped soap involved only makes the scene funnier.
