Love arrives unexpectedly for three generations of a matriarchal clan in a dusty Arizona border town. A seventy-year-old widow (Mexican screen veteran Lucy Gallardo) impulsively buys a car and accepts an offer of free driving lessons from her gardener (Jorge Cervera Jr.), which sets the neighbors'
tongues wagging. The gossip annoys her bossy, divorced daughter (Elizabeth Pena), but the blooming romance delights her granddaughter (America Ferrera), a bright teen who's just discovering boys. Writer-director Georgina Garcia Riedel makes inventive use of the widescreen format in this gentle, poetic 2005 comedy. In English and subtitled Spanish (128 min.).
