Homestead Clam Bake

In the hierarchy of times when no American in their right mind wants to cook, the night before Thanksgiving — with out-of-town guests arriving in droves and the all-day trial of a turkey and its accompanying fixings looming just ahead — has to rank pretty high on the list. This year’s Dungeness crab season delay prevented Homestead (4029 Piedmont Ave.) from holding its traditional crab feast, but its replacement — a $60 (tip-inclusive) clam bake, with a half-price option for kids — doesn’t sound like a bad replacement. The prix-fixe menu will feature a variety of shellfish (clams, mussels, lobster, shrimp, etc.), seasonal vegetable sides, and dessert.
