What’s holiday dancing? Please — you can’t do the snowflake akimbo? There’s a long history of cool moves saved especially for the end of the year and its many festivities. In fact, what some holiday dancing enthusiasts call the year-end shuffle is quite akin to the two-step seen in turf dancing, a homegrown Oakland style if there ever was one. At any rate, just ask The Amigos about it. The New York-based Americana act plays Freight & Salvage on Saturday, December 20. With accordion, standup bass, washboard, and guitar, The Amigos perform music in the styles of country, Cajun, bluegrass, jazz, and more. Luckily, every one of those styles lends itself to holiday dancing. Just remember, it takes two to do the snowflake akimbo — and no two are alike.
